Do It Now!
How many times have you said to yourself “I can do that later” or “I will get around to it” in the past 1 week? Too many, I know so have I. What we gain in that momentary relief of not “having to do it now” we pay later in the moments of regret or even worse lamentation wishing for a different job, wishing for better health, or wishing for more time with friends and family.
Any major change in our life starts first with a decision to make that change followed by an action. It does not matter how large or small the action, for change to occur action must occur.
Time waits for no person. When we are young we have dreams. Dreams about who we are going to be and what we will do when we are older. Then one day we wake up and we are older, yet where have those dreams gone?
It is not too late. You are not too old. I am here to remind you, today that your dreams can become a reality, if you start now. It’s time put a stop to the procrastination, because procrastination will kill each and every one of your most cherished dreams.
For a long time, I was under the impression that in order for my dreams to come true you should know how your dreams will come true before they will happen. I was so wrong. The beginning of my dreams becoming a reality began in my life with me gathering the courage to overcome my procrastination, procrastination based upon the fear of not knowing if my plans or actions will work out. As I overcome my fear to delay important decisions I become empowered to live life based upon my thoughts and my decisions. In effect, I become empowered to live the life that I choose instead of living the life that happens when I wait to see what others will choose for me.
So I say do it now! What do you gain by waiting? What do you gain by doubting yourself? You can do it! You can be a game changer in your own life. It’s time for less procrastination and more living. Do it now!
3 Tips to Overcome Procrastination
Write down your WHY. Write down the purpose- the WHY- behind your dream. Then place your written statement in a place you will be sure to read it over and over. This reminds you WHY it is SO VERY IMPORTANT that your dream becomes a reality.
Begin with the end in mind. Write down or make a picture board of the outcome of your dreams. Visualize yourself at the end. What character traits will you have? What house, what car, what job, what healthy habits? Knowing what positive outcomes are waiting for you will serve to motivate you.
Make very small time sensitive goals. Challenge yourself to take 1 step toward your dream each day. Make 1 phone call. Write 1 e-mail. Follow-up 1 lead. Celebrate yourself for the attempt and the completion of that step each day. Celebrate your efforts with a smile and words of satisfaction for following through. It takes courage to do what others are not doing. And you overcame your fear to do it! You ROCK! These small steps will encourage you to take others! Go ahead and Do It Now!!!
